In 2015 this iconic aircraft, 'Vera' the Lancaster bomber visited the Yanks weekend at Uppermill. Pictured at around 1000ft, this allowed me to show Uppermill, with the playing field, canal, river, road and railway leading to the arches before rising to Dobcross, the village that featured in the film Yanks. As Uppermill gives way to arable fields, the lands rises to Pots and Pans and the War Memorial, with the wild beauty of the Pennines beyond.
